Director’s Note
If an energetic, conscientious person gives a valedictory address, then at the FAR end of the scale, an obsessed person is Jack Nicholson, peering through a shattered door, axe in hand, grinning maniacally. That’s, well, extreme, I know, but I do think that there’s a path connecting the two. So, what might happen if obsession takes hold, invades really, a society that is given to the undeniably noble task of talking to God? One last photographic image: a 1880’s frontier town full of mud, drunken miners, brothels, bars and gambling dens. Two Catholic nuns, unafraid, undaunted, habits billowing, stride past the old buildings. They are on patrol. How magnificent. And how miraculous.
